DAMASO PEREZ PRADO defined The Fifties as the mambo decade. The clapping, the dance and the guttural sounds coming out of his own voice remains forever something that even now makes his fans wild! BENNY MORE topped this when in Mexico, when he joined Pérez Prado’s orchestra and recorded the most well known mambos that turned around the whole world. The Mambo revolutionized that decade’s Cuban dance scene. Many followed Pérez Prado, but instead of copying him they assimilated other genres to create mambo-chá, mambo-son, but they continued doing the original mambo-danzón, which was the origin that Pérez Prado coined as mambo. Locos Por El Mambo (Crazy for Mambo) is a tour through the genre and its history that shows the dimension of all its possibilities and why nowadays is enjoyed in many parts of the world.
